The western Massachusetts workforce is becoming 18 workers stronger, thanks to Dress for Success of Western Massachusetts.
On Saturday, July 15, 2017, the agency will graduate 18 women from its Foot in the Door workforce development initiative, specifically designed to support local women facing barriers to employment.
The second cohort of its kind for Dress for Success, Foot in the Door is a 14-week program made possible with financial support from the Davis Foundation and United Bank.
In partnership with Square One and Springfield Technical Community College, the Dress for Success participants spent 49 hours on a curriculum that included Career Pathway & Exploration, Workplace Readiness, Employability Preparation, and Financial Literacy. The program was held at Square One, where child care was provided for the participating women.
At the conclusion of the program, participants tested for a National Career Readiness Certificate. Each successful participant was guaranteed an interview with a major local employer – including Baystate Health, Columbia Gas, Smith & Wesson, MGM and others.
A graduation celebration will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017, 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Shops on Marketplace in downtown Springfield. Media are encouraged to attend.
